A Letter to Wayne LaPierre

Sir, before you join the ranks of the seditious civilian soldiers in your head, I would like to suggest a few changes that might bring you back into the realm of rational discourse. I first have to ask you to quit speaking for America. You don't know who America is. Every time I hear you abuse a microphone, I hear the words of a man who has a very narrow view of who or what America is. I hear a presumptuous man. I hear an old man with propaganda leaflets floating around in his head. I hear a man with war on the tip of his tongue, not against a foreign enemy; your enemy is the American Experiment.
Let me tell you who America is. America is the land of the free. We are free from the chains of slavery, we are free from tyranny. We are free form the chains of a truly un-civil war. We are allowed to live nose to nose with our elected, and we stand together even when they turn off course. The heart of America is huge, and the select few that we choose to distribute that love are also America, and they know it. There will always be distasteful muckrakers like you, even in the ranks of the elected. You will always have an itchy ear to whisper into. We all know that when you peek out of your fox hole and speak that it is only for you.
Your comments, both new and old are despicable. I have never owned a gun and I have never felt any more or less safe than you. The difference for all of us comes down to what we cram into our heads. Some of us create vaccines to irradicate disease. Some of us manage and organize groups into action against people like you, who insist upon dragging the past into our bright future. We can only hope or pray to all of our gods that a man like you never realizes his militant fantasies. Yes sir, you are the one who does not get it.
When I write, and when I think about what I will write, I have integrity first. I do not wish to propagate militance, nor will I use the page to poison America with an idea like yours. Logic defies your sermon. Integrity evades you for your agenda. You are not elected. You represent yourself. The sheep who follow you are the only audience you have, and I can assure you that they do not represent who America is.
If you truly have psychotic ideations that our government will one day turn against her people, I offer this; shut your mouth on our stage and concentrate on your mental health and gun safety courses. Our boys and girls need to be safe around guns. What we do not need is an army, raised from civilians, lied to, weaponized, and angered to the point of civil war. Of your four million subscribers, how many of them do you think will be the next mass murderer? You don't know whose ears your sermon is infiltrating.
In conclusion, I beg you to see what it means to throw a log on a fire that is already burning. I ask that you differentiate between 300 million and 4 million. You barely have enough to win a local election, so stay out of America's politics. I have never met you, and none of my friends or their friends have ever met you; your rights end where your guns begin and when you speak for America, you are holding your gun to the heads of those you do not know. May you retire with haste and quit trying to rewind us back to the days when wolves were truly a threat.
