Hackers Are People Too

It seems like every time we decide to put our bigotry aside for a certain type of person, along comes another to hate. The worst part is that our governments' name and target these people for us. Here's a quick history of hateful racism and bigotry in America: Native Americans, Britons, Eastern Europeans, the French, African Americans, the Japanese, women, yankees in the South, the GLBT community as a whole, Islam and the undocumented.

Despite our progress as a nation in it's move toward equal rights and general fairness in our society, there is always another person or group to rail against. I might be next for being a physical anomaly. You might be next simply for the neighborhood you live in, or those who "have spots"*. When will we run out of people to hate?

Never. The new "bottom feeders" are the hackers. They are being picked off one-by-one. They are being handed multiple life sentences, when rapists spend as little as four months in prison. I have heard a defensive arguement for the government recently, from a wing-nut of course, but the imbalance here is staggering. Making an example of somebody through unjust means will never stop these who have chosen a hazardous career. The powers that be have to understand that making martyrs of men like Bradley Manning and Julian Assange, are merely elevating them to hero status. Like Osama; he was a mouse until our White House and the media turned him into a god-like figure. Whatever the case, those people in DC will always be a step behind these guys.

I realize there are laws that should be observed, but in these cases, they are no worse than the most petty criminals holding office. The treason is probably running down the walls of the capitol. These men are allowed to do as they please, lie when needed, kill innocents at will and live on as free men. I can't imagine the things we don't know about.

When did a government for the people and by the people become a state of secrets and insult to it's citizens? At what point did they decide that we lost our right to information about what they do? Is it because of what happened when our last president told the entire world what the military and CIA were planning? No, security is the reason for that. We can no longer be trusted by our government. I am cracking myself up right now because of how backward this is. I thought that stuff was unique to the South. Corruption has lost it's meaning.

Maybe when it hits too close to home, and there is no one else to blame, people will notice the infestation. There are over 500 cockroaches in DC crouched and ready to find the next ones to hate. In the mean-time, people like us who have the courage to do a job that could get us executed will keep working to stay a step ahead of the people who get away with murder every day. I sincerely hope that the tables will be turned on them one day. They are making bigots out of every single one of us.
