The American church, all of its faithful members, gathering each week, maybe a few times, is magnificent. By that, I mean the profit to societal benefit ratio is horribly skewed. Millions of poor and some wealthy members contribute to their pastors, week in, week out. Praising  a singular deity is the focus of these gatherings, right? U.S. vs. Iran: What are we missing?

There is constant chatter and media alarm in the US concerning Iran. As usual, we are fed the information that is not only one-sided, but is mostly a smoke bomb hiding many of the fouls that we have commited against a country that is not very different from some of our "allies" in the region. Actually, the media has made a conscious decision to ignore the facts, and keep them distorted for propaganda reasons. Iran and the US have an ugly history and today, the history has turned to a selective dismantling of a potentially great nation. Iran, and the region it was born in began around 3,200 BCE. Iran reigns as one of the oldest, major continuous civilizations. America on the other hand was established around 1776. Religious Freedom or Theocracy?

   Some of us sleepy Americans will go to their assigned voting stations tomorrow. We will be thinking about the things that matter to us individually. Some will have a good time throwing their lot in with the one's whom they believe most closely fit their own agendas. Others will be angry and militant when they vote; possibly thinking the bubbles they fill in will somehow be darker than the bubbles of their enemies (any opposing voice).    Some will vote filled with fear that one of their guaranteed freedoms might be at stake. In my experience, the greatest fear factories are the churches, and certain "news" outlets. For some reason there is a message getting out there that is making people truly afraid that our country will be swallowed up by atheist hippies if the incumbent wins.
